What happened to our cat

We ordered a cat! Mary has a penchant for cat food. She is very well behaved but must have ninja blood in her, leave the back door open and turn away and you wont have seen her outside but she will be eating away at Eddie and Maries Hills Science Diet .

Lyra

This is Lyra.. He is on holiday with us for a few weeks and spends most of his time in the beautiful Arran sun

The Other Halves

These lads, and their lasses were an immense set of guests. They had the whole house to themselves and had a great time. We look forward to seeing them return

Dressed to Kill

Half of the troop (some would say the better half but we are not here to judge) that were attending a wedding at the Auchrannie.
These girls walked back in high heels on a beautiful barmy night

What you see walking into Brodick from Glencloy

Newly resited Jimmy The Barber. Good old traditional haircuts

Bilslands, closest thing to a department store but do we need a department store?

Royal Bank of Scotland, should you need it

Another fatality. Used to be the Tigh-na-Mara guesthouse now split into 2 houses

The Chocolate Shop, some unique tastes in here

Homestyles, Arrans equivalent to B&Q

This used to be Stalkers Cafe, now, Eilean Mor Bar/Bistro

Brodick Bay at peace

Goatfell, you ave to climb it. Takes about 4.5 hours there and back on the slow gentle route

Wooleys the Islands Bakery

Inspirations, classy gift shop, nice stuff

Brodick Post Office, 'nuff said.

Brodick Hall and Library. Previously the site of Arrans permament cinema now hosts many events including sales, musicals, ceileidhs and previously the Chucky Show

This used to be the Heathfield Hotel, now appartments.

Ormidale Park site of the August Highland Games and many other community sports events

In Summer this decking provided a beautiful spot to have afternoon tea. Now it is redundant and possibly a bit dodgy.

Used to be the Good Food shop and Bistro, now it is second hand furniture and clothes but still provides a very useful service to the community. It is sited on Auchrannie Road which leads up to, believe it or not, the Auchrannie Country House Hotel.

Glenn House. Now a B&B run by a lovely couple

Build Your Own

Ever fancied having your own Cul-De-Sac named after you? Just build your own. Name withheld to protect the innocent. Actually find it it quite astonishing, why wouldn't you if you could?

Bliss

Leeds City Station, best in the country
In reverse order these are ost of the stations on The Settle - Carlisle Railway Line, a beautiful journey.

The Pendolino to London Euston in Glasgow Central. Neil and Alans connection to Carlisle.

One of our most regular trains. Notice the ears.

The Harbour Station is in the middle of The Clyde Marina. When it is windy the guide ropes rattle like something out of a horror film, it is the best atmosphere

Days Away

Ardrossan Harbour Railway 'Station'. Hint, when coming fro Glasgow Central sit right at the front of the train. 2 reasons. 1) you are closer to the boat when you get off and 2) the train sometimes splits at Ardrossan South Beach and it will save you having to get off and back on or going to Largs, which is nice but not if you want to come to Arran.
Please make use of this covered walkway. It cost enough!

When you come to Arran this is the start of your crossing. Get your tickets in here, this is actually Neil and Alan leaving Arran but who was to know.

Remember Neil and Alan were going away? Not too many photographic memories but here are the ones that we have. On the ferry departing Brodick.

Hello Everyone. Sorry being absent for a while. Got back from Yorkshire and had a bout of illness then catching up so lets see what offerings can be thrown your way.

Case de Inca

A couple of hours graft and Inca has had a makeover. Whereas normally she'd play hard ball before going to bed last night where there was no bed to go to it was the only thing she wanted to do. Anyhow she is chuffed.

The Golden Dragon

Hazel, Neil, Corrie and Jim went to The Golden Dragon in McLarens Hotel in Brodick and we have to say we were very impressed. We had ribs for starters and 4 different main courses and 2 desserts. Everything was very well presented and tasted gorgeous.

The atmosphere was quite electric and we were very well looked after.

No pictures for this one, didn't seem appropriate really, but the restaurant has been refurbished with new furniture, we'll be back to this one next week without a doubt.

Brodicks New Chinese

Arran has very few opportunities to partake of alternative quisine, some would say why would you want to as the local produce is excellent, but today (Friday 13th) The Golden Dragon, previously in Whiting Bay, opens its doors as part of McLarens Hotel in Brodick. We will let you know how things go after our visit tonight.

Brodick Walkway

This is a new million pound walkway from the pier to, wherever. It unfortunately is another erosion of the natural aspect of Brodick front
